BOOK ONE NOW AVAILABLE FROM EN THEOS PRESS
Brigitta of the White Forest has been a long time coming.
I won’t bore you with the details… but if you’re interested in the journey from idea to screenplay to accidental novel, you can read about it HERE in a two part blog entry OR read an interview with me HERE about, well, pretty much the same thing (and my take on the difference between novel writing and screenplay writing). There’s also a podcast interview with me on BOOK BITES FOR KIDS about my journey and process.
Brigitta is my debut novel, a middle grade fantasy adventure. But I think adults will enjoy it too. They’ll especially like reading it to their middle grade children. (or having their middle grade children read it to them)
The novel is being released in May 2010 by boutique publisher en theos press. My reasons for going with a boutique publisher are also explained in the aforementioned blog entries.
I’d like to thank my parents, my husband, the various agents I’ve had, all my friends who critiqued the book (some more than once), my friends’ kids who critiqued the book, my publisher, cover artist, copy editor, and the students at PSCS who took part in the novel’s focus group. Without you Brigitta wouldn’t be the book it is today.
I would also like to thank all the publishers who initially rejected the manuscript. It made me a much stronger writer, in more ways than one.

Oh, I love the term boutique publisher! Can’t wait to read The White Forest!!
I’m sure I didn’t make that term up. it does sound nice, doesn’t it?
Aloha Danika –
I am so happy about The White Forest getting published!! When I read the manuscript (quite a few years ago to 3 preteen girls I babysat a lot – they were absolutely entranced!!
I am eagerly awaiting my copy of the book – to revisit the land and see what the final copy looks like!
Blessings, Angelica
Angelica — it has changed so much since you read that old copy… for the better, I might add. It’s even changing this minute as I get all the final notes from my copy editor. I think you’ll be really pleased when you see the final result.
Can’t wait to get a copy for Sam’s future shelf!
Aloha Danika,
Ordering a book “presale.” Your mom is a great promoter in Hawaii. We’re looking at the website now. I have 2 daughters who would really enjoy this, a 10 year old and a 5 year old. I’m having the 10 year old read it to her sister, great practice. The younger one loves faeries. She even has a magic wand at home-pink. Lynn
Lynn – thanks for stopping by and for ordering a book. 10 years old is the perfect age… and if she loves faeries, I’m sure she’ll love the adventure.
I hope I can extend my book tour to hawaii soon!
